Why allowed your chickens drinking
water that contaminated with their own poop, whereas you can simple provide
poop-free drinker. It is simple, let me teach you how to do that. You can save
some money back in your pocket, which may cost you treating the chickens. In other words, it is an economical way to
provide fresh, clean water to your chicken on continuous basis. With this, it
saves you enough time for washing the drinkers more than once on a day, and
ensure the health of your chickens. Feel
free to follow these steps:
STEP 1
Get the following items: 1. Used Paint
Bucket (washed and clean), 2. Poultry nipples (you can get it at poultry shop)
STEP 2:
This step is all about method. Turn the
bucket to face bottom up, and drill a small that can tight fit the Nipples. You
can drill 3-4 holes or more depending on the numbers of chickens you’re
considering. Note that each chicken nipple can provide enough water for 10-12 chickens. But please choose
adequate number of holes for number of chickens you have.
Now, hand screw each chickens nipples
into the holes. If leaking, remove the chicken nipples and use threading tape
to round the threads, then fix them back. You can also use PVC gum that use in
fitting the PVC pipes together.(You can get the Threading Tape and PVC gum in
any Plumbing Shop in Nigeria).
Find a secured place and hand the
bucket so that the bottom of the bucket will be little off the ground depending of the height and size
of the chickens. Ensure that the bucket would be properly hang to avoid falling
off and killing thirsty chickens drinking under it. Securely hang the bucket so that the
bottom of the bucket is about 18” off the ground for full-grown chickens.
Make certain your hanging system is secure! You don’t want the bucket falling
off and breaking a poor, thirsty chicken’s neck. The chickens will stand
under the bucket and reach up to peck the valves and get water. Don’t
worry about training the chickens how to drink from the chicken nipple, they’re
naturally curious and attracted to colour-red (that is the colour of the
chicken nipple). Just relax and enjoy watching them while they learn how to use
the new water system. Example of hook for handing the bucket:
