9 Tips To Start Agribusiness Without Money

Here in Nigeria, considering the economic state of country, self-employed remains the key. Most people that wants to into Agribusiness and farming these days, are facing with one thing holding them back that is money.  The banks are reluctant to lend to start ups, because most banks believe that first timers in the Agribusiness or Farming tend to fail when hit with challenges. Also, a tough economic climate makes it hard to borrow from friends and family, and funding it on your life saving with little or no experiencewith big risks.
Sometimes, when you do need some cash, government agric loans are for people who’ve been turned down by banks, or with connections. But funding isn’t always necessary.

Here are good news for you, follow these basic rules, you will learn that starting a business with almost no money is entirely possible. This is how to do it:

 1. Make use of the resources at your fingertips. 
You can work from home. Example, if you have chosen to go into farming, maybe raising chickens or croping, your backyard can be your starting point. If you’re intending to go into fruit juice production, your kitchen can serve as your factory.  With these resources at your fingertips, you can actual start up your dream agribusiness/farming without money for buying a farmland or hiring a factory site for your production.  


2. Build a business round the skills you already possess. 
What can you do that people are ready to pay for? This is where creativity pays. Can you design and construct poultry cage, construct fish pond (both concrete and wooden pond),advertising someone else work etc? Do you have a hobby you could turn into a business? If you possess a skill that other people don’t, or would need to invest time and money learning for themselves, that immediately puts you at a big advantage.

3. Sell a product (or service) which people need rather than want
which they instantly understand, and which they feel comfortable buying without having to consult anyone else first. You can start chicken processing centre right from your home. I mean culling chickens, removing the feathers, cutting into parts, and packaging. People are ready to pay for the services which cost you any money to start up. There are other services you can render and product (food items) always in need.

4. Get customers to pay you upfront – or at worse, half upfront, half later, so that your costs are always covered.

5. Tap into free advice.  
There are free books, tape, and DVD out there that can offer free advice for starters that dream to achieve their agribusiness.

6. Source any equipment you need for free
look around you where people can recycle unwanted items, or even in your home, items that are useful although unwanted can fit in here. Example, there are used items (cans, buckets) out there that can fit in as drinking equipment for chicken, or even there feeder, incase you are trying to go into poultry.

7. Do almost all the work yourself – and plough virtually all income straight back into the business. This is Thankless, yes, but also the only way you will be able to build up enough cash reserves to invest in new equipment or other agribusiness, and so grow the agribusiness.

8. Hold on your job, if you have any. 
Do this business in your spare time and only replace it with your day job once your venture is able to pay you a wage. If the venture doesn’t work out, your job is still there for you. If it does, the transition to being your own boss will be a lot less risky.

9. Take advantage of free technology to promote your agribusiness. There are free website hosting online, you can create one to advert your product and services. To let the world and people around know what you can offer to them. Then get social networking. It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s an amazing way of promoting your business without spending any money. Sign up to Twitter, Facebook or join online site that advertise goods online.
